Mike Alfred, Co-Founder and CEO
Mike is Co-Founder and CEO of BrightScope and responsible for the strategic vision and leadership of the company. Previously, Mike
was the Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager of Alfred Capital Management LLC, an independent registered investment firm located in La Jolla, CA. He has
been a Financial Advisor and Portfolio Manager since 2003. Mike is a
dynamic thinker capable of developing and implementing cutting-edge business models and effective marketing strategies. He is also a proven relationship builder who excels at establishing key partnerships. A noted and quoted 401k and financial expert,
Mike has appeared on CNBC, ABC News, Fox Business News, National Public Radio and in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Bloomberg, Reuters, Fast Company, Inc., Wired, US News and World Report, CNN/Money Magazine,

In addition to his work endeavors, Mike and his brother, BrightScope President Ryan Alfred, teach financial literacy to
minority students through the Links Achievers Program, the Pathways to College Network, and Jack and Jill of America. Mike and Ryan also teach the
Stock Market Game to high school students at Cathedral Catholic High School and mentor entrepreneurs at the Founder Institute. He sits on the Board of the San Diego Software Industry Council and received his bachelor's degree from
Stanford University.
Ryan Alfred, Co-Founder and President
Ryan Alfred is Co-Founder, President, and Head of Product Development at BrightScope, an independent quantitative 401k ratings firm. Ryan
authors the BrightScope blog and publishes research on industry trends and events. Ryan is an expert in financial regulatory topics and
is actively engaged in the debate in Washington DC about issues relating to regulation of the defined contribution plan marketplace. Ryan
has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, USA Today, Pensions & Investments and numerous other industry publications.
Previously, he was the Co-Founder and Chief Compliance Officer of Alfred Capital Management LLC, an independent registered investment firm
located in La Jolla, CA. Prior to joining Alfred Capital in 2007, Ryan spent two years in wealth management. In addition to his work
endeavors, Ryan and his brother, BrightScope CEO Mike Alfred, teach financial literacy to minority students through the Links Achievers
Program, the Pathways to College Network, and Jack and Jill of America. Ryan and Mike also teach the Stock Market Game to high school
students at Cathedral Catholic High School and San Diego High School. Ryan received his bachelor's degree in Economics from Harvard
University.
Dan Weeks, Founder and COO
Dan is the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of BrightScope focusing on the day to day operations of the company. He is a 25-year HP veteran holding 5 engineering patents. During his tenure with
HP he spearheaded multiple commercialization efforts for consumer software products including HP Image Zone Express and HP Smart Web Printing.
He also led due diligence during HP's acquisition of www.Tabblo.com and served as integration manager post-acquisition. His experience includes
managing development of embedded software, Mac Software, Windows Software and Software Quality organizations to test the solutions before they
are shipped to millions of customers around the world. Dan was the original solo founder of 401k Sidekick which later became Sidekick
Technologies and eventually became BrightScope. In his spare time, Dan is a member of the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo Computer Science Department
Industrial Advisory Committee and has served two times as Chairman. He was a past recipient of the Cal Poly College of Engineering Medallion Award
"in recognition of extraordinary leadership and commitment in support of the Computer Science Department." He is also is a member of the Founder's Circle
for the Cal Poly Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Dan graduated Magna Cum Laude from
Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Computer Science. He was Valedictorian of the University of California, San Diego, Executive Program for
Scientists and Engineers.
David Allison, CTO
David Allison is Chief Technology Officer of BrightScope and is responsible for technology leadership within the organization. David is a software
platform architect with management, design, and development experience in multiple languages, technology platforms, design paradigms, and team
sizes. His technical background is in machine learning and natural language processing, with a focus on document classification and
extracting information from unstructured content. Prior to joining BrightScope, David was Technical Director of Hat Trick Media, a web
applications development agency and Founder of Minute7.com, a popular time tracking application for users of Intuit's QuickBooks
software. David is a member of the Los Angeles CTO Forum, and is presently working on Students4Startups, bringing engineering students
and technology-focused startups together in the Southern California region. David has spoken on machine learning, techniques for analysis
of big data, and open government data sets at AITP LA and the LA CTO Forum. David graduated with honors from the University of California,
Berkeley in Linguistics with a focus on Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing.
Oscar Hackett, CFO & General Counsel
Oscar Hackett joined BrightScope as the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel and is responsible for all financial and legal aspects of
BrightScope's business, including fundraising, strategic partnerships and investor relations. A recent addition to the San Diego
business community, Oscar previously managed the finance and legal affairs for Consumers United, a Boston-based company engaged
in the sale of personal financial products ranging from life insurance to auto loans, using the collective buying power of its
members to negotiate group discounts. Prior to Consumers United, Oscar worked in the Boston office of Lazard Freres, advising
software and internet companies on public and private fundraising, mergers & acquisitions, and IPOs. Advisory roles included
Kenexa's acquisition of Salary.com, Siperian's sale to Informatica, and IntraLinks' IPO. Oscar received his J.D. cum
laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as a Co-Chair of the Harvard Law School Real Estate Association and
contributed to the work of the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation. Before law school, Oscar structured and traded
equity and life insurance derivative products at Deutsche Bank in New York City. Oscar graduated magna cum laude from
Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service with a BS in Science, Technology, and International Affairs and is a
member of the Massachusetts Bar.
Jeremy Ross, Head of Sales
Jeremy is the Head of Sales at BrightScope and responsible for driving adoption of BrightScope's industry leading set of products and services. After beginning his career as an analyst with Deutsche Bank, Jeremy led teams within a multinational real estate development firm. Jeremy is a dedicated community volunteer, serving as a member of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Board of Directors and Chair of the San Diego Race for the Cure, raising over $1 million annually in the battle to end breast cancer forever. He received his bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis in Finance and Marketing.
Jessica Campbell, VP, Client Success
Jessica is Vice President of Client Success at BrightScope and leads BrightScope's growing customer support organization. Jessica joined BrightScope as a Data Analyst and quickly rose to a leadership role in the company's Spyglass business for retirement focused financial advisors. She is a recognized expert in business development and assists BrightScope's clients in effectively turning data into dollars. Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University in Economics with a minor in Business.
Bryan Lorenz, VP, Data
Bryan is Vice President of Data at BrightScope and responsible for supervising BrightScope's elite team of financial analysts. Bryan manages all aspects of BrightScope's vast retirement database and compiles research for various internal and external sources. Bryan joined BrightScope in June 2009, starting as a data analyst and quickly rising to the head of the department. Bryan received his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
