at MSFS, Doug was the Chief Investment Strategist at The Tilson Financial Group (in Watchung, NJ), where he built optimal and unique portfolios for all clients based on their own unique needs, goals and dreams. While Doug brings significant investment experience to the table, he believes no portfolio can be created without building a comprehensive financial plan. As Doug often says, “It doesn't matter what car you select for a journey if you have no idea how to get where you're going.”
Doug works hard with clients to help them conceptualize what’s truly important to them both the tangible “importances” (goals) as well as the intangible “importances” (values). Then, and only then, does he build and implement an optimal portfolio that will start the client down the path to financial freedom, peace of mind and – ideally – life fulfillment.
Doug is a regular contributor in the Star Ledger as a resource for the popular “Ask the Biz Brain,” as well as Sunday’s “Get With The Plan.” He also teaches on topics including investing, basic/advanced financial planning, financial life planning and more.
Doug graduated Cum Laude from the Robins School of Business at The University of Richmond in Virginia. He lives in Basking Ridge, New Jersey with his wife and three kids.
