Can I have coverage by two health insurance policies?

My husband and I are each offered health insurance through our companies. One is much better for trauma/emergency situations and the other has much better deductibles for primary care. Is it possible (or even logical) to have two policies if the out-of-pocket costs are reasonable?

The answer might depend on employer contributions. Regardless, you can calculate your annual cost, including premium, deductibles, and coinsurance for your expected usage. Often employers contribute to employees coverage, but not family members. If this case, it might make sense for each of you to be on your own employer's plan.
