My sister is getting a divorce She was a stay at home mother for years. Could you help us figure what she's entitled to?

This might not mean anything to some people but, he sent her a TEXT from the other room and told her "I'm not in love with you and I don't want to be with you anymore!"...then he proceeded to tell her he hasn't been since before her heart attack 4 years ago, and said "he didn't want to look like a bad guy for kicking out his wife after a heart attack!". He's being extremely rude to her, and now he has their son on his side I'm guessing because he is being so mean to his mom. His father has to be slandering his mom. I'm just trying to help her out because she don't have anything she was living in a motel you pay week to week for a month and a half, now she has an apartment and is trying her hardest It would be amazing if you guys could have any advice for us that we could use in her favor he has a 401k a house two cars their dog. Thank you for even reading this. We would greatly appreciate it thank you so much.

  1. Interview the best divorce lawyers in town (usually they'll give you a free consult or charge you for 1 hour). Then he CAN'T use any of those lawyers.
  2. Do some homework - where's all the money - get statements or online access to everything you can (you'll need it eventually anyway).
  3. Depending on the state, spouse is usually entitled to half the assets (give or take), child support, alimony (depends on length of marriage, income, etc). Only in rare cases does it go differently. Those are some starting suggestions
