I want to compare 403(b) plans, but tools on BrightScope refer to 401(k). Does good 401(k) plan rating = good 403(b)?

The basics are the same. Fees, ehe quality of the investment lineup, participation, company generosity (ie is there a contribution match). 403(b)'s have bene the news of late because of University plans with higher than normal fees and/or fund line ups that are inadequate.

Best Plan goverance practices for 401k and 403b are to have the plan fees and investment benchmarked regularly to ensure the participants are getting the best deal and that the funds in the investment remain the best for the plan participants.

If you wish to discuss the details of the plan, I could provide more specficic feedback. I can be contacted at 908-841-9764 or via email at cschiffer@aepg.com

This is helpful! Thank you so much. I'm bummed to see that none of the dozen options available through my university have been rated--I guess they are smaller plans. The HR people won't make any recommendations. How should one go about making a decision? Do I have to solicit plan info from each of these providers and squint at all the fine print? Here are my options: https://hr.osu.edu/wp-content/uploads/sra-providers.pdf
