I have 1/3 of my net worth in the markets (95% equities, im 26). The other 2/3 is cash. Where do you advise I put this? I have no debt and might use some money to start a business so I might want to be able to access it in the short to medium term of 1-3 years?

Ryan- I have read your reponses...you are looking at starting a business in New York, have you prepared a complete business plan with spreadsheets of your first year expenses and expected revenue along with a thorough examination of the industry you may participate? Not to mention living expenses. I would not invest any money until this process is complete. King may be cash in your situation and I am sure you could work a deal with a local community bank for a deposit of 100k in preparation of your business. Good luck Shawn

Ryan if you are thinking about starting a business in New York have you prepared a business plan with a spreasdsheet of your first year expenses? Including expected revenue? Done a thorough investigation into the industry in which you may participate? Only until you have done this and set aside the required capital to form your venture would I even consider investing in municipal bonds from New York. Cash may be king in your situation... I am sure you could work a deal with a local community bank for a 100k deposit for preparation of your business....Shawn
