Should my 401K contributions be 2 weeks behind being deposited into my 401K plan?
Two weeks may be just about right. Probably not what you want to hear but the reality of the matter is getting money into each participant's account can take a while. I would not think much more than two weeks to be OK though....  (more)

I will be retiring in 6 to 9 months. How should I distribute my 401k contributions, in order maintain current balance?
If I understand your question correctly, your desire is to maintain you current balance in your retirement plan because you need to have access to spending it in the next 6 to 9 months. Many plans, if not most, have a money market, stable value, or cash option as an investment choice within the pl...  (more)

Hello, I am planning to lease a Benz GLK 350.
The short answer is yes, it will affect his credit score. The more important answer relates to your long-term financial future. I hate to make presumptions based on a short question but I wonder if this car lease is the right thing for you. We all want new things but sometimes the right thing fo...  (more)

Can I move my balance from my employer's 401k to a traditional IRA?
Wow, that is a lot in fees. If your numbers are correct, you do have a valid compliant. One very important bit of information is missing from your story. Do you still work there? If you do and you are under the age of 59 1/2 you are likely out of luck. If you are over 59 1/2 and/or have left th...  (more)

Anyone know where else I can put my savings after I max out my IRA and HSA for the year?
Another option may be to pursue investing in a very tax efficient way. Rather than lock the funds up under a variable annuity wrapper consider purchasing mutual funds or ETF's that have tax efficiency as a mandate. That means the manager will seek to avoid taking capital gains unless absolutely ne...  (more)

My wife and I each have student loans. Should we consolidate both our student loans into one loan and one payment?
I would caution against combining this debt. Right now the loans are in each of your individual names. did you know that there are two ways that Federal student loan debt can be forgiven? Both are lousy things to happen but the loan would not continue after this. Death is the first reason, perma...  (more)

Marcus, it would be worthwhile to visit with a planner. Remember that a disability is something that would prevent you from not being able to work, not that you do not want to work anymore.
