Amani,It's not impossible to give you an idea of what to do, but you need to have a conversation with an advisor about this. If you are younger, a Roth IRA and or, a Roth 401(k) associated with you side business is worth talking about. Consider the basics along with your thoughts on retirment. Do ...  (more)

I am to receive part of my ex husbands 401k?
Donna,I'm sorry to hear it has taken this long. Even though you are not the only one in this situation, it is somewhat complex. To start, it depends on what state the divorce was settled. You mentioned you were to receive a part of the account, I will assume you live in a state without community pr...  (more)

Pam makes some good points! As far as your score and high balances, it only takes one line with a high balance to impact your score. So paying one down won't help you a ton in respect to your score. A when you say pay it off, make sure you dont close the account, that will drop your score. Many of ...  (more)

Can I put money on my ex-wife's debit card from my 401k?
As far as getting the money from A to B, a debit card number will not work for that. Use your account and routing number at the bottom of her checks when you fill out the papers Michael is referring to.Michael does make a good point on the tax issues. Consider the tax consequences vs. a loan with a...  (more)
